I'd spend a day with wire wool and a bottle of woodstain to de-orange the Tanaka.

Also you need a LOT more Nic Morigi products... ideally you should hardly be able to lift the tunic due to the weight of bling pinned on it.

Being really critically the only thing I can see is the bread bag, which looks like a late/post war model. The scabbard also looks very light but I don't know if thats correct or not. Your gas mask tin would probably be more likely to be RAL 6006 in the period you're aiming for but applegreen isn't out of the question so should be ok. Does your helmet have the single decal? Can't tell from the pics.

As Beds says give the Tanaka a good going over and it will improve it no end.

My 1944 double buckle boots for a WAC/ANC 8) smidge shiney atm as they're being treated and its not soaked in properly yet, but small parts of the boot that hadn't' desicated (heel and toe area) were the colour that they all are now :good:

Not sure if you can see the last picture well when its posted but its the issue numbers, size and the date.

Really nice Falshy load out Stiener.

Imp great load out too. Try and re-spray your scabbard to a dark gun metal or use the hot oil technique a couple of the guys use on here. My only question would be wether Stone grey trousers would still be in use 41/42???? I thought these were a pre-war early war article, I do realise there is always the case of old kit being reissued whenever possible. Stick some pics up when you've got the rest of the bits to complete your impression. Looking forward to seeing it with A frams and itchy wool blanket.

Hmm... possibly, Chris. Kermit's the man with the info on that. (I know for Op Ariel he's chuffed that the SS-VT wore Feldgrau trousers, so he doesn't need to get any Steingrau!)

Danke to all. Theres a bit of a story behind the very light bayonet. The bayonet is dated 1940 and brought back by the bloke I bought it froms dad after the war. The reason the scabbard is light grey is because his dad once used it to stir a tin of light grey paint :slap:
Now I was a bit reluctant to nitromores it incase I damaged the blueing underneath.
@ lardassmonkey, Cheers mate, the helmet is double decaled as I wanted to use it for early war by loosing the y straps. Your right about the gasmask and its on the list of things to do. And I do need a new bread bag, the old one will end up with the late war SS kit.
@ Steiner Awesome as always. don't you love the Luftwaffe side cap. Always looks good. :good:

 Well that explains it, I have to say it had me puzzled.

I'm doing the same thing with my M35, the decals can always be covered for later war scenarios. There is no need to paint your gas mask tin if you don't want to, its still possible some were that colour later on. My helmet and gas mask tin are currently the opposite of yours, my tin is 6006 whilst my helmet is 'applegreen' (bought as RAL6003 Olive green but looks a good match for apple to me). I intended to make them both 6006 but I like the apple colour so may keep it until after Aerial.
I was being very picky about the bread bag, and hypocritical- mine is the post war type. The trouble is most of the repros availabe are copies of post war models not wartime ones. :slap:

Hmmm, I seem to have managed to miss a couple of pages of this thread recently :slap:

Imp, looking really good :good:

Steiner, Loving the FJ loadout for Gulch, I really like the plain grey smock look, love the mud helmet camo too!

Not a critisism of your loadout in any way, but, one thing I've never been convinced about is the blue breadbags for FJ though :| It doesn't seem logical to go into combat with a nice camo smock and a camo'd helmet, and feldgrau trousers, only to wear a bright blue breadbag. It's always puzzled me wheather this is really correct :?

One thing that does wind me up is the "luftwaffe Blue" waterbottle covers. Completely FARB, they never existed! Any you do see are post-war police ones. It doesn't help when the likes of SOF perpetuate the myth :x

Social FJ loadout looking great also mate. :good:

I was under the impression boue bread bags were luftwaffw ground troops issue (as in air base guards etc etc), even the field divs to my knowledge had green or tan ones in combat roles.

I'm happy to be corrected if im wrong but I dont think many FJ in 44 had blue bread bags
